Dubai : LuLu Group has teamed up with Dubai Cares to adopt a school in Gaza, Palestine. The project aims to improve early childhood care, education and development for children aged 3 – 6 in remote and disadvantaged communities in Gaza.

Early Childhood Development is defined as programs and services for parents and children from conception to eight years of age in the field of education, health, nutrition, protection, and sanitation. Dubai Cares will be involved in upgrading and equipping a pre-school with all necessary infrastructure, in addition to helping in literacy and teacher training for children in the age group of 1 - 2 years. Very few young children in Gaza and the West Bank have access to early childhood development programs and services with less than one third enrolled in preschools. By adopting a school, LuLu will be supporting over 100 children.

Speaking about the project, Salim M.A., Director of LuLu Group, said: “Dubai Cares is one of the key organizations that are creating positive change in the lives of underprivileged children and communities around the world today and we have been an active supporter of their philanthropic efforts. As part of our CSR policy, we have set aside a substantial portion of our revenues for such noble causes and we will continue our endeavor to bring positive change to the lives of the disadvantaged globally”.

Commenting on LuLu Group’s generous contribution, Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer at Dubai Cares, said: “We are again very grateful to LuLu Group for their ongoing support. The contribution of like-minded organizations such as LuLu is key to our global progress in eliminating poverty through education. Adopting a school in Gaza will bring much needed education and hope to the children of Gaza, ensuring that their future is enriched with opportunities for growth and progress.”

Dubai Cares programs are currently reaching more than 14 million beneficiaries in 39 countries around the world.
