LuLu Hypermarket reaches out with its ‘Joy of Giving’ initiative

Awali : LuLu Hypermarket in association with the Bahrain Petroleum Company launched a unique programme celebrating the true spirit of Ramadan. Through this initiative, free Iftar packs will be given away to people while on the road at sunset, so as to help them end their fast on time. The retail giant is distributing the packs through kiosks set up at seven busy Bapco service stations across Bahrain.

The kiosks are set up at Bapco service stations in Adliya, Hoora, Al Nuzha, Al Rawdha, Riffa/ Sitra, Seef and Central Market. The free service commences 30 minutes before the daily Iftatime and continues for another half an hour. Through this CSR campaign, Lulu Hypermarket is distributing around 1000 food packs a day and will continue to do so throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

Commenting on this noble cause, LuLu Group Managing Director Mr. Yussufali M.A. said, “We have always placed great emphasis on social commitment and firmly believe in giving back to the society. This campaign is a small gesture to help the residents break their fast while on the move. We understand that many of us can’t be present at home everyday during Iftar. Through this initiative we would like to make it possible for them to break their fast on time. I take this opportunity to wish all my fellow brethren Ramadan Kareem.”

Commuters who availed the service were full of praise for the initiative, as they felt it helped those who were fasting to sustain themselves in this sweltering heat. Also, it helps them drive carefully since they had already had something to see them through till they reached home. The Iftar packs are being distributed to all members of the public - not just commuters but anyone who approaches the distinctive LuLu kiosk in the Bapco stations. The kiosks are managed by a team of LuLu staff in each of the seven locations and their duty is to ensure speedy delivery of the packs to the public.

Bapco CE, Mr. Gordon Smith added, “Bapco is delighted to support this initiative of LuLu Hypermarket to reach out to the community during the holy month of Ramadan. We have seen excellent response from our customers to this campaign. This step is part of Bapco’s ongoing CSR initiatives aimed at fostering the social welfare of the Bahraini community.”
