Dubai: In keeping with its policy of getting closer to its shopper base, Lulu, the regional retail giant has embarked on an aggressive plan to expand its small format "Lulu Express" stores across the region. The group which currently operates 90 hyper & supermarkets in the region opened 3 new "Lulu Express" yesterday, 2 in Dubai & 1 in Mirbah, Fujairah.

Fujairah - SoukExtra Shopping Center, Mirbah.
With the addition of these new stores, Lulu currently has 10 express stores in UAE & Qatar. Commenting on the new initiative Yusffali MA, Managing Director said "though hypermarkets continue to be our primary focus area, we also intend to open more of these express stores to cater to the growing demand of suburbs and gated communities. The strong brand loyalty and location advantage will surely help LULU Express become a dominant player in this sector also."
Lulu express with an average size of around 20,000 sq.ft. will be primarily targeting those who love to shop in smaller quantities nearer to their home or office to avoid traffic and crowded big hypermarkets while still enjoying the price advantage of big format stores. Fresh fruits & vegetables, grocery, meat & poultry and fresh & frozen food sections are the main focus of these convenient stores with greater emphasis on quick service.
