Dubai: LuLu Hypermarket was awarded the 'Best Retailer of the Region' award at the prestigious Gulf Business Industry Awards 2013. The award was presented at a glittering function at The Oberoi Hotel in Dubai on 24th September 2013. Mr. Ashraf Ali MA, Executive Director of the LuLu Group, received the award from Mr. Khurshid Vakil, CEO of The Marina Group. Other notable winners were Emirates Airlines for 'Best Airlines', DEWA for 'Best Energy Company', and Majid Al Futtaim for 'Best Real Estate Company'.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Ashraf Ali said, "We are very delighted with this honour and I thank every one of our shoppers, especially Malayalees who have always supported us in all our projects. We will always strive to provide better service and quality at the most competitive prices and also open more branches to serve you better."
LuLu currently has 106 stores across the region and plans to open 11 new hypermarkets in various countries in the next 18 months.
