Abu Dhabi: The region's largest hypermarkets operator has announced the opening of its biggest store yet in Abu Dhabi. The proposed 220,000 sq. ft Lulu Hypermarket will come up at the soon-to-be launched Capital Mall in Mohamed Bin Zayed City, Abu Dhabi. An agreement to this effect was signed today by Mohamed M. Al Qubaisi, Chairman of Manazel Real Estate and Yusuffali M. A., Managing Director of the LuLu Hypermarkets Group.
Talking to media after the signing ceremony, Mohamed M. Al Qubaisi said “We are obviously delighted to have LuLu with us as our anchor tenant and once completed, this project will contribute towards introducing a new lifestyle into the area and will revitalize it in accordance with the Abu Dhabi 2030 vision of residential development within the new Capital District.”
Capital Mall will consist of three stories spanning 60,158 square metres of retail space and house around 278 fashion, electronics, jewellery and service retail stores, in addition to entertainment outlets and a diverse selection of restaurants and cafes.
Al Qubaisi said that the mall would be an important addition to the area, due to its prime location in the new Capital District. The mall is expected to provide a range of services to residents of Mohamed Bin Zayed City as well as neighboring areas such as Khalifa City A and B, Al Falah, Al Raha Beach, Bani Yas, and Al Shawamekh.
Speaking about this new venture Mr. Yusuff Ali said, “This move is part of our plan to be closer to various residential and new developments within Abu Dhabi and its nearby suburbs. Capital mall with its unique location advantage and catchment area is ideal for opening our biggest Lulu Hypermarket yet in the region. With all-round development taking place in Abu Dhabi, the future looks very bright for us and as one of the prominent local players, we shall continue bringing the best shopping options for UAE nationals, residents and tourists.”
Lulu Hypermarket which was ranked by UK-based Planet Retail as the no#1 Hypermarket chain in the Middle East and the 6th in the MEA region was also recently voted as the most affordable hypermarket in the UAE.
