Mr. Mohamed Althaf was also bestowed with a ‘Special Achievement Award’ for his unparalleled efforts in protecting the British business interests in the Middle East.

LuLu Group International was chosen for the Award taking into consideration their contribution towards strengthening the business relations between Qatar and Britain during the recent years. LuLu Group for several years have exported foodstuffs through consolidation of third party groups in the UK, however, once the decision was made under the title of Y International UK Ltd., a 30,000 SQ FT state of the art warehouse in Birmingham, UK, was opened in April 2013 for the procurement and consolidation of foodstuffs direct from suppliers for the export to our 118 outlets including Qatar.

Since the opening of their logistics warehouse, the facility now has the capacity for storage of dry goods, frozen foods, perishable items and for the process of checking ingredients, labelling and packing, before transit to airports or seaports with full documentation as required by the local authorities in each region.

The Qatar region currently receives 40 ft containers on a monthly schedule with our ambient supplies and receives a weekly air freight consignment of up to 20 palletized shrink wrapped and temperature controlled perishable ranges along with confectionery and short life ambient.

The total outlet for the initial project was GBP 24 million sterling and the current turnover of exports stands at GBP 10 million sterling year to date.

The opening of our warehouse has generated in excess of 200 jobs for the local unemployed community in Birmingham to gain training and security in the work place and new hope for their own and families’ future prosperity.

Since the opening of the Group’s Warehouse Logistics, the company has taken a shareholding in ‘The Harrogate Water Company’ and is currently working on the final design and production of our own label water.

The Group Managing Director Mr. Yusuffali M.A. has taken a shareholding within ‘The East India Company’ and most recently invested GBP 120 million in the ‘Old Scotland Yard’ and has plans to convert the iconic building into a 5 star hotel with an opening scheduled in 2017. The Group has several investments in real estate business with both commercial and private holdings.  Further investments in hospitals and hospitality are currently under discussion with the authorities in the UK.
