Lulu Express opens at Qatar Foundation’s Education City

Doha: Lulu Hypermarket Group yesterday opened a new store at Qatar Foundation’s Education City community housing, offering residents shopping opportunities in a store designed to reduce its impact on the environment. The store is the 81st outlet of the Lulu Group, and represents its expansion into neighbourhood-style stores, which although smaller in size, aim at offering the same convenience and comfort to local customers.

“Though it is small in size when compared to the group’s other hypermarkets and department stores in Qatar, it has all the amenities of comfort, convenience and pleasure of modern shopping for the up-market as well as medium class customers,” said a spokesperson. The store will also feature a coffee shop, beauty salon, pharmacy, post office, bank, clinic, laundry, donut shop and flower shop, with a car park which can accommodate over 200 vehicles. The new shop has been designed on two levels, taking onboard green considerations, and offers all types of food, such as organic, gourmet, gluten-free and fat-free items, added the spokesperson.

“In keeping with its endeavor to provide the best quality products in the most hygienic way, the group has invested heavily in special areas,” he added. Managing director of Lulu Hypermarket Group, Yusuffali M A, said: “This project is in fact very important for us as we have implemented several new initiatives here. This neighbourhood store is going to be one of the eco-friendly projects with many unique features to reduce the carbon footprint.”

“Qatar is a very important market for us and we will be investing more into the booming retail sector of this great economy. The kind of support and patronage we have been receiving from both locals and expat community here had been tremendous and we look forward to providing them world class quality and service at our new store at Education City,” he added.

“We have great confidence in the Qatari economy and are looking keenly at launching new projects to further strengthen our presence here,” added Yusuffali.
