Leading Indian expatriates in the UAE and other Gulf countries will have another avenue to utilize their potential and experience, a leading Indian businessman told Gulf News following his induction into a key council of Indian government.
These avenues stand alongside the ability to support economies in the region, said M.A Yusuffali who will sit in the Indian Prime Minister’s Global Advisory Council of People on Indian Origin (GACPIO).
“A new initiative of the government of India will pave the way to repeat the achievements of the UAE and other Gulf countries in India,” Yusuffali said.
The Indian government created the council to draw on the experiences and knowledge of eminent people of Indian origin in diverse fields worldwide.
“As a business man working in the region, I will present the success stories and rich experience of expatriates in the Gulf before the government of India,” Yusuffali said.
He is the managing director of EMKE Group and a board member of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
“Many expatriates can contribute to the initiative as they did with their hard work for the development of this region,” he said.
The main functions of the council will be to serve as a platform for the India leader to tap the experience, knowledge and wisdom of the best Indian minds wherever they are based, he said.
It includes an agenda for two-way relationships between India and Indian expatriates, he added.
The council will include the minister for External Affairs, the minister for Overseas Indian Affairs and the Principal Secretary to Prime Minister and other prominent Indians.
