LuLu Group has provided financial support for the activities undertaken by the Qatar Engineering Society (QES). This initiative was declared at the meeting held at the headquarters of the society in the Katara Cultural Village. The meeting was attended by Eng. Mr. Ahmed Jassim Al Julu - Chairman of the Board of the Society, and members of the Board - Eng. Mr. Khalid Ahmed Alnasr, Eng. Mr. Abdulla Yousuf, Eng. Mr. Mohamed Hassan Al Nuaimi, while LuLu Group was represented by Mr. Mohamed Althaf - Group Director of LuLu Hypermarket, and Mr. Shaijan M.O. - Regional Director of LuLu Group, Qatar region.
Mr. Mohamed Althaf presented a cheque of 150,000 QR for the purpose of supporting the activities of the society during the period 2014-2015. It is an ambitious project depending entirely on the Qatari engineers. The project plan includes various activities pertaining to engineering leagues within the society (league of electrical engineers, league of civil engineers, league of mechanical engineers, league of architectural engineers).
The QES plans to conduct field visits to major projects in order to keep the engineers updated about new developments, field visits to secondary school students to raise awareness about the engineering profession and its different branches, and activation of the program called ‘Coffee with an Engineer’, where 16 engineers who are executive directors and decision makers within the government, will address Qatari engineers. They also plan to organize six engineering workshops next year, signing Memorandums of Understanding with certain entities for exchange of experience in the area of engineering. Other plans include participation in the committees of the union of Gulf engineers and its various activities in Arab countries, and activation of the work of the citizen committee which renders free expert engineering advice to Qatari citizens.
Engineer Khalid Ahmed Al-Nasr commended the initiative of LuLu Group which has helped QES realize its objectives and contribute to the vision of Qatar 2030. He added that this confirms the effective social role played by LuLu Group in supporting the professional institutions of the state.
Engineer Ahmed Jassim Al Julu presented the shield of the Qatar Engineering Society to Mr. Mohamed Althaf, thanking him for the great support rendered to the society.
