LuLu and Your FM launch LuLu Food For All™ aid initiative

A unique CSR project that leverages the wide reach of Your FM Radio and LuLu Hypermarket was launched on November 4th, 2013 to seek donations for providing food to the needy. Named the 'LuLu Food For All' initiative, it was launched under the patronage of the Royal Charity Organization, at Ramli Mall.

The public will be able to buy any item from a list of dry rations such as rice, dal, wheat flour, sugar, oil and place them in donation bins stationed at the four LuLu Hypermarkets in Bahrain. The collection drive will run till December 16th and the donations will then be distributed to the needy by the project’s NGO partners, Migrant Workers Protection Society (MWPS) and the Art of Living Foundation.

The first donation received was dry ration worth BD 1000/- from the RCO, which was handed over by Dr. Mustafa Al Sayed. Speaking at the inauguration which was attended by social and charitable societies, Mr. Juzer Rupawala, the Regional Director of Lulu Hypermarket said, “Food is one of the most basic requirements of all living creatures. Along with clothing and housing, it forms the three-layered base upon which human beings live a life of dignity and good health.”

He added, “The UN World Food Day which falls on October 16 each year, is a reminder to us all to share our plenty, our harvest of good fortune with those in need. While the date is fixed, food activism isn’t about 1 day, 1 week or even 1 month and each one of us can begin a lifetime’s generosity with a single small donation.”

Mr. Rupawala thanked the RCO for its patronage and Dr. Mustafa Al Sayed for presiding over the inauguration, saying that the involvement of such eminent philanthropic organizations was sure to inspire the community to participate in the food drive.
Indian badminton champion Jwala Gutta was also present at the event. Dr. Mustafa Al Sayed praised Lulu Hypermarket and Your FM Radio for the initiative, saying, “Often people want to make a difference but lack a platform upon which to come together and change the world. By providing this platform, Lulu Hypermarket and Your FM Radio have done a great service to those who will receive these donations. The RCO is very happy to extend patronage to this worthwhile cause.”

He added “By timing the distribution of the collected ration to Bahrain’s National Day, the 'LuLu Food For All' project will enable the entire community to 'Share and Care' and express their love for Bahrain.”
